I have exciting news. As a lot of you know, I have been on the job hunt. As a recent college graduate, I wasted no time jumping into mailing off resumes and searching (what seemed to be endlessly) for a new job. While I loved being a Clinique Consultant, it just wasn’t the career I wanted for myself. That being said, I stopped at nothing to find a job in the Visual Merchandising field.
Luckily, I received countless emails and phone calls from companies who wanted to interview me. After seven interviews with different companies, I received an offer from Elaine Turner in Nashville. While I had been into this adorable boutique a few times, it never actually dawned on me to apply. However, LinkedIn had other plans. Being on LinkedIn is such a great way to connect and discuss job opportunities with many different employers and employees alike. I came across the store manager’s profile and decided to message her to see if there were any job openings in visual. After three interviews, I was in!
After accepting the position I felt empowered. Not only am I the Visual Lead, but I am also a supervisor. I’ve never had managing experience and I am so glad to be training in a management position. This will give me the opportunity to move up within the company.
So here’s a little about this great company:
Elaine Turner was started in 2000 when Elaine Turner and her husband decided to start a fun lifestyle boutique in Houston, TX. The company has had a lot of success and has opened eleven stores. Most of them in Texas and one in New York and one in Nashville. The company is mainly a retailer of handbags and shoes but also carries unique jewelry, clothing, and tech accessories. I am so excited to be a part of this trendy company and can’t wait to grow.

Hello readers!!! Happy Thanksgiving to you all! I hope you spent the day with your loved ones and lots of food. I know I did. This was the first Thanksgiving I’ve hosted and it turned out really well. The only dish I messed up was the yams. However, they were still tasty. Just a little more liquidy than usual! Here is my day in pictures!
I am thankful for so many things this year. Here’s to name a few:
1.) I have an amazingly supportive and loving family. And although they live on the opposite end of the country, I still get to communicate with them.
2.) I’m thankful for my amazing boyfriend. Whom without, I’d be very lonely and not have as many adventures under my belt. He is my one and only. ❤
3.) I'm thankful for my sweet fur babies. They are always there to comfort me and/or play with me. Not to mention they're super cute.
4.) I'm thankful for my job. Times are hard as far as finding a job and I'm lucky to have one. Especially one that doesn't require me to work on holidays.
5.) I'm thankful for the roof over my head and the food in my belly.
6.) I'm thankful that I am about to graduate. I can't believe I am about be done with school!
7.) I'm thankful for you guys! I'm so happy to have all of you read my blog. I'm so new to blogging but all of your comments really mean a lot.
Thank you all for stopping by! Enjoy the rest of Turkey Day!!!! 🙂
A lot of you know me as someone who consumes a lot of latte’s, cappuccino’s, and the occasional good ol’ cup of Joe. Well, being a college student requires you to be wise with your money. Being wise with your money, to me, means save every penny you have to buy a grande Caramel Macchiato at the nearest Starbucks every day. Now, some of you, or a lot of you, may think this sounds silly. There are children starving all over the world, and I save every penny for my next latte. And you’re right, it is silly. But, that is me. Coffee addict.
That being said, I finally caved in and purchased a cheap Mr. Coffee Espresso Maker. I shoved my Kuerig in the back of my pantry, and I am officially saving money by making my own latte’s at home. A big step for me.
My first, and favorite drink to make is: Caramel Macchiato. Yum! This Caramel Macchiato Eight O’ Clock ground coffee is delicious for this kind of task! The French Vanilla syrup from Archer Farms and Torani Caramel sauce make it the perfect treat! The super cute fall to go cups are from Target.
And Voila!!! I am currently researching new latte’s to concoct. This adorable coffee cup was a birthday gift!
Having espresso at my finger tips during all times of the day means I will get a lot more done! Hello energy!
There’s nothing like having a clean and organized workspace to get your work done. Living in a teeny tiny apartment as a college student definitely has it’s down side. With two dogs, one bedroom, and my dining room making do as my office, things can get a little messy and out of order. So today, I decided to get re-organized!
When I first moved in with my boyfriend, I decided to turn our dining room table into my desk so I would have room to do projects. So here is my dining room/office. (Hint: it’s never used as a dining room.) And most of my things are stored in my kitchen cabinet. But hey, welcome to the student life.
I feel most organized when I have plenty of pencils (in this case, pencils in an adorable mug) and having plenty of memo pads handy. I also love the cute organizer cube from Threshold at Target to hold all of my magazines and papers.
How do you get re-organized??
Imagine this. You’re twenty two years old and have never made chocolate chip cookies from scratch by yourself. I know what you’re thinking…. Sad and pathetic right? Well, other then the occasional licking the spoon full of cookie dough while I was supposed to be learning how to make cookies, this is the case. I’ve never made homemade cookies by myself.
I decided I would try it out the other night. So I went on Pinterest (because how else would I find the perfect cookie recipe) and pinned a basic chocolate chip cookie recipe. I made a list of items I would need, and went shopping!
As I started to read the directions on mixing the ingredients together, I thought to myself, This seems easy enough. Well, turns out I was wrong. Making something for the first time can be challenging.
For example, I didn’t read ahead and so I stumbled through a few steps. But all in all… Those cookies turned out delicious!!
One thing I would’ve done differently?? I would’ve skipped the wax paper on the pan. I ended up pealing wax paper off the bottom of my cookies before I ate them! Lol!
This is the recipe from Pinterest if you want to give it a go!
Have a good night all!!!
Happy National Dog’s Day everyone!!!
Today is very special to me. We get to celebrate our amazingly loyal besties just as we should everyday!
Below are my two very best friends.
Meet Tyson! A one and a half year old Beagle/lab mix who is goofy and playful and also, very loving. He barks at squirrels outside, chases frisbees at the dog park, lays down while he drinks water from his bowl because he’s been outside playing and he’s too tired to stand. This big guy makes me laugh, comforts me when I’m sad. In fact, he licks my salty tears from my face when I’ve had a rough day. He always wants to play and be loved. Yup, he’s my buddy.
This sweet loving Boston Terrier is about four years old. He is the most talented snuggler in dog history. He will lay just about anywhere. Whenever I want to snuggle I pull him into my lap and he’s happy to do it. He has the cutest smile and the best snores you’ll ever hear from a Boston. He’s basically my fur baby! A true sweet heart.
I have a huge passion for dogs. They are always there for you. They love you more than you know. If you would like to make a difference in a shelter dogs life, please visit my site designsfordogs.weebly.com
Thanks for stopping by!!
Who’s your best (fur) friend forever?? BFFF
Who’s tired of the same old boring medium roast coffee and creamer situation? Well, I definitely am. See, as other fellow college students know, sometimes we’re too strapped for cash to fork out the extra $4.75 for a fancy latte at Starbucks. So, I wanted to share with you the few ways that I mix up my coffee!
This can work the same for regular coffee makers, but I choose to use the Keurig. I LOVE the Donut Shop K-cups but will use anything. This morning I tried a hazelnut flavored k-cup.
While my hazelnut single cup brewed, I brought milk to a boil while constantly stirring. This has the ‘foamy cappuccino’ effect.
I used Torani caramel sauce to drizzle inside my coffee mug to add extra flavor.
Once my coffee was done brewing, I poured the steamy milk on top of the brew. Then squeezed a few more drops of caramel sauce into it and finished it off with a few dashes of cinnamon.
The result was delicious!!!
What are some ways you mix up your coffee routine? Comment below! 🙂
